We’ve had the pleasure of spending two days at The Crash Factory in Nottingham with the “wizard” a.k.a Mark the producer and we’re thrilled with the results! Once we receive the mastered versions of ‘SMD’ and ‘History’ we will post them here.

New Material

Since December we’ve been showcasing our new songs at our gigs around Nottingham. The feedback has been excellent and it’s been great to see these songs evolve and mature each time we play them. SMD sounds very different to how it did in the beginning – still dark but more energy in the verses.

We are very much looking forward to recording these songs in the near future. Keep checking back on the myspace for news.

Ending 2010 with a bang

After a little downtime over the last couple of months This Modern Life are in the studio on Saturday 18th December in Huddersfield to record a single for Christmas. Yes, you heard it here first…last year we had Rage Against The Machine at No. 1, this year it’s going to be … … …X Factor?

Then we are in Nottingham on Tuesday 21st December to end the year with a gig at The Maze, one of Nottingham’s great music venues.

Then…some exciting things coming in 2011…

Pied Bull’s Birthday

Scott and Neil will be playing an acoustic set (and new material!!) at the Pied Bull pub in Shepshed this Saturday (2nd October). The evening starts at 8pm until late but get down early and get your seat as it tends to get packed out. 3 more in the bag for the winter gigs!

This Modern Life are pleased to announce 3 brand new songs to be played during their gigs this winter. The tracks entitled, ‘His Story’, ‘The Colour of Blood’ and one with a working title of ‘Camera’, signal a slightly new direction for the band. Fear not, the pop is still lurking there but obscured by a layer a rust and dirt. Look out for gig dates soon (and maybe some news of a demo CD… … …)
